01 / ONE KEY. REAL CHORDS.

LESS THEORY. MORE MUSIC.

You have an idea.
STILL gives it
a feeling.

Pick a key and every white key plays a chord that fits. The black keys play borrowed chords: that one bIII or bVII that suddenly opens a track up.

  • Colours: add9, 11, 13, sus2 and sus4. Clashing notes are left out for you.
  • Styles: House Piano, Detroit Pad, Garage Stab and Deep Spread.
  • Smooth: voice leading that lets your chords glide instead of jump.
The STILL chords panel: key, colour, style and the chord display showing Dm7 and the borrowed chords.
The chord display with ninth chords and the borrowed chords on the black keys.

Black keys

Borrowed chords, right under your fingers.

In a minor key you play the chords of the major key, and the other way round. They show up as black keys above the white ones, with their name and numeral.

02 / SPARK

ONE IDEA. FOUR DIRECTIONS.

Stuck?
Hit SPARK.

One press gives you four musical variations of your idea. Click a card and you hear it straight away. Lock what has to stay, keep the best one.

SPARK with the cards Original, Deep, Drive, Lift and Twist, each explaining what changed.
DEEP

More space, fewer notes, lower and darker.

DRIVE

Short stabs with accents on the offbeat.

LIFT

More open, higher, ninth chords and an arp.

TWIST

A surprising chord or a 3-3-2 rhythm.

SPARK follows fixed musical rules: always in your key or using well-known borrowed chords, and the same result for the same seed.

03 / FIND YOUR GROOVE

FROM CHORD TO TRACK.

Progressions that
play themselves.

Build a progression of up to eight steps, or start from Deep House, Garage or Melodic. It follows the play button of your DAW.

  • Hold, Stab or Arp with swing, gate and humanize.
  • Step groove: accent, ghost, rest, ratchet and chance. Locked to the bar.
  • Drag MIDI: drop your progression into your DAW as a MIDI clip.
The Groove panel with the step row: accents, ghosts, a rest, chance and a ratchet.

04 / BASS LAYER

ONE KEY. CHORD PLUS BASS.
The Bass panel: Split, Wood Bass, Offbeat, octave and split point C3, with the macros above.

The bass just
plays along.

Auto follows the root of every chord, in your progression too. Or set it to Split: left hand plays the bass, right hand the chords.

  • Offbeat for the classic house bass, or Hold, 8ths and Octaves.
  • Its own sound: any STILL preset, the FM basses first.
  • In your export as a separate MIDI track.

05 / WARM HEART. MODERN MIND.

THE SOUND.

From warm pads
to glass keys.

Two oscillators with classic waveforms or wavetables, a warm filter, unison up to seven voices per note, and effects with real character.

The oscillators with the FM row: Amount, Ratio, Decay, Sustain and Tine, with the preset Tine Keys.
FM for glassy electric pianos, bells and woody basses, with a Tine for that bright tick.
The reverb with the Shimmer knob, with the preset Shimmer Pad.
Shimmer lifts the reverb an octave up into a floating cloud.
62original presets
4macros: Warmth, Movement, Space, Punch
16voices, unison up to 7 per note
16modulation routes, 2 LFOs

06 / THE DISPLAY

FIND IT. FEEL IT.

A real
synth screen.

Step through sounds with the arrows or your scroll wheel, or click and search. Type "fm" or "warm bass", filter by tags and star your favourites.

Turn a knob and the screen shows what you are doing.

07 / MAKE IT YOURS

YOUR STUDIO. YOUR COLOUR.

Five colours.
One Dark Camo.

Pick your accent colour and, if you dare, the Dark Camo skin. Hide the on-screen keyboard when you play a MIDI keyboard.

08 / FROM FIRST KEY TO YOUR DAW

KEEP THE IDEA MOVING.
01 / DISCOVER

Find your vibe.

A sound, a key, a progression. Warm, dark, open or full of energy.

02 / CREATE

Make it yours.

Chords, groove, bass and macros until it feels right. Or let SPARK surprise you.

03 / KEEP GOING

Take it with you.

Drag your pattern into your DAW as MIDI, chords and bass on separate tracks.

BEFORE YOU PRESS PLAY

Good
questions.

What exactly is STILL?

STILL is a new polyphonic synth for house and electronic music. It combines its own sound engine (classic waveforms, wavetables and FM) with one-key chords, progressions, groove, a bass layer and SPARK. You can also just play single notes or your own chords.

Do I need to be able to play chords?

No. Pick a key and press one key to hear a chord. Or let a progression run and work on the sound and groove. Smooth voice leading keeps the changes flowing.

Does STILL work with my DAW?

The alpha runs on Mac (Apple Silicon) as VST3, Audio Unit and a standalone app. The plug-ins pass automated validation (pluginval and Apple's auval); testing in real DAW projects is ongoing. Windows is in development. STILL does not send live MIDI to your DAW yet, but you can export your pattern as a MIDI file or drag it straight into your DAW.

When can I download the beta?

There is no fixed date yet. We invite testers in phases as soon as a suitable build is ready. Pick your platform and DAW when you sign up so we can test in a focused way. Signing up does not guarantee a spot.

Does signing up cost anything?

No. Signing up is free and you are not committing to anything. The price of STILL has not been set.

Is what I see here real?

Yes: every screen image comes from the current STILL alpha. The device at the top is an illustration. STILL is software, a plug-in and a standalone app, not hardware.
